As I complete my 4th Turbulence Training Transformation Contest I cannot help but think back over the past 3 years and how my life has changed. The first TT contest I entered was in 2013. I wasn't feeling great about myself. I was the unhealthiest I'd ever been. I was put on medication for hypertension and I had daily knee pain that meds wouldn't cure. It took some coaxing to sign up for that first contest. It was way out of my comfort zone. I was terrified what people might think, but entering that contest was probably one of the best things I have ever done.

I went on to win that contest. First place in my age category! It motivated me. TT made me realize that working out does not have to be a struggle or something I dread and that I don't have to spend hours in the gym to reap the benefits. It showed me that exercise doesn't need to be boring. There are loads of TT workouts to choose from and I love having that variety. I learned that it's ok to ask for help when needed and that it's important to surround yourself with others who get it.

I entered two more TT contests after that initial one and was successful with those as well. I love that I can use them as a 12 week goal. It serves as a deadline for me. Having a lot of weight to lose is overwhelming and by chipping away at it 12 weeks at a time somehow makes it feel less daunting. There are still days that I get discouraged and frustrated. Why isn't the number on the scale dropping faster? How come other people are losing faster? What am I doing wrong? It's those days that I fail to see the big picture. It is not all about that dreaded number on the scale. It isn't about comparing myself to others. I am not doing anything wrong. My lifestyle is the healthiest it's ever been. I am off all medications. I exercise 5-6 days a week because I enjoy it. I weigh, measure and journal my food every day to keep me accountable. I prepare most of my meals in advance so I am set up for success each day.

This current TT contest has helped me achieve the best results yet! In these past 12 weeks I have lost a total of 32 pounds and 27 inches. I know this lifestyle takes effort. It takes planning, organization and dedication. It's about consistency and finding balance. The reward of a healthier body and mind is worth every bit of effort and I'm excited to see what I can accomplish in the next 12 weeks!
