This past January I found myself in a rut. I needed to lose weight and feel better about myself. I formed a team of girls to do Mudderella Chicago in May. That was my goal.
I started working out in the gym and a couple of weeks later a friend called saying there was a 21 day boot camp challenge starting. I signed up and met Kate at the Long Island City Fit Body Boot Camp!!
Every morning at 6am for 21 days I was there working my butt off, which clearly did not get worked on for years!! Not only did I win the challenge, but I found something that I loved. I became addicted!
As a child, I was extremely active and played every sport. I consider myself pretty athletic. I walked down the isle 12 years ago (this weekend) at 135 pounds. I had never felt better! My husband and I played softball every spring, summer and fall for years, but that was pretty much my only workout.
Fast forward 12 years and two children later here is where I'm at. The boot camp workout was extremely hard and intense in the beginning, but there was something about it that made me want to do more! I'm a competitive person, especially with myself. So as soon as I started seeing results I kept going and pushing harder.
I was becoming so strong, losing weight and the inches were melting off. I actually looked forward to exercising!!! I changed my diet. I started eating breakfast and cut down on the carbs.
The best part of boot camp is its only 30 minutes and everyday is different. Its not like going to the gym and running on the treadmill for hours. I can't believe half the stuff we were doing. The TRX, burpees, squats, planks, pushups, and mountain climbers.
We workout in a circuit exercise routine that really gets your heart rate up, metabolism working and strengthening the muscles at the same time in a short, yet extremely effective 30 minutes.
As a mom of two, my life can be pretty hectic. This has been a perfect solution to get me back to the person I was. I have come a far way, but I still have a lot to go. The best part of my day is walking in from boot camp and having my three year old daughter say to me, "Did you just workout mama? Good job, Im so proud of you!"
For that, I will continue on my transformation journey with Kate and the others at Long Island City Fit Body Boot Camp!!
Thank you for this opportunity!
