"Let me just say straight up that I have lost 31.7 pounds and almost 31 inches from my body in under 12 weeks! I'm so excited!
Around 12 weeks ago I was sedentary, overweight and unhappy. After much deliberation and putting my excuses aside I began my Turbulence Training Transformation. It seems like forever ago now, but I took my stats and photos on the 15th of September 2008.
I realised this was a bad time to start as it was my 33rd birthday four days after that. I actually put on weight over the 'birthday cake day' or should I say four days! So I took my measurements again on Monday the 22nd of September, even though my photos are from the 15th of September.
My beginning stats:
Age: 33
Height: 168cm
Weight: 87.6kg (192.7 pounds)
Thigh: 27.5"
Calf: 16.25"
Hips: 44"
Waist: 37.5"
Navel: 41"
Chest: 42"
Bicep: 14.5"
Neck: 15.5"
For the first week or 2 I just got used to eating right. I was a little apprehensive about the weight training as it had been about 10 months since I'd lifted any weights and was very out of shape. I'm really embarrassed about my 'before' photos but I hope that by posting them they will inspire someone to get healthy.
I finally did my first workout on Wednesday 1st of October. I started with the intermediate level training. I moved on to the original TT workout. I increased all my weights again, including 10 kg added to my flat bench press, 12.5 kg to my seated row and 7.5kg to each dumbell for the reverse lunge. I could now do 11 chinups in a row. This was up from my 3 max before TT. I can now do 13 chinups and 13 pull-ups, which is up from about 4!
I then decided to do bodyweight cardio version 1 for the remainder of the time. I absolutely love bodyweight workouts! TT has so many variations of bodyweight workouts. You could never get bored. I've increased my pushups max from about 20 something to 60 and I can plank for 4 minutes straight!
I took my final measurements on Friday 7th of November which is actually 10 weeks and 4 days from when I seriously started TT on the 22nd of September or 11 weeks and 4 days from the day that I took my 'before' photos. I went away camping for a week and only got back today so I knew I would look my best before I left.
My final measurements:
Weight: 73.2kg (161 pounds) Loss of -14.4kg or - 31.7 pounds!
Thigh: 23.5" Loss of 4 inches
Calf: 15.5" Loss of .75 inches
Navel: 33.5" Loss of 7.5 inches!
Waist: 34" Loss of 3.5 inches
Hips: 34.5" Loss of 9.5 inches!
Chest: 38" Loss of 4 inches
Bicep: 14.5" Steady (More muscle)
Neck: 14" Loss of 1.5 inches (no more double chin!)
Total Loss: 30.75 inches and 31.7 pounds in 10 weeks and 4 days of healthy living!
The changes I have made in my life in 10 weeks and 4 days are nothing short of amazing! I no longer crave junk food and actually feel cravings for fruit and nuts! I no longer dread workouts which used to be long, boring cardio sessions or even longer, aimless weights sessions.
I can use Turbulence Training anywhere and anytime without any equipment, in fact, I used Bodyweight Cardio all week while I was away camping. I absolutely love the fusion of bodyweight training and traditional weight training combined into 1 workout.
The TT forum is a wealth of knowledge, even if you're a bit shy like myself, someone always answers your questions and encourages you to keep going hard. Everyone who has seen my results are amazed and at least 2 have signed up for TT as a result of being inspired by me! I think it was my demo of spiderman pushups that did it for them!
Just tonight as I went to collect my cheat pizza meal, the girl who served me asked if I was a personal trainer! I said no, but thanks for the compliment, and then told her about TT and the transformation contest.
Here's some of the reasons why I love losing weight and why I'm now a
happier person as a result of TT:
1. My thighs don't rub together anymore when I do my intervals on the treadmill! That pain, together with accompanying rash was a good motivator though.
2. My pants are falling down now. Yes, this is a positive thing!
3. People who I haven't seen in a while are dumbfounded just by looking at me.
4. I can run faster and further than before with less effort. I can also lift more and do more chinups/pullups/pushups than before. One day I hope to beat some of the girls in the weekly challenges!
5. When I'm in the shower, I think I actually use less soap now. That saves me money. Saving money is good. Seriously, isn't it awesome when you're doing your usual wash routine and you can actually feel that you've gotten smaller around your head, butt, waist, etc. All the places where you wanna be smaller, and when you flex your chest you can actually feel muscle in there.
6. More money saving. Just when you think you're gonna be forced to buy new clothes that you aren't bursting out of, you can go back to the clothes that you used a year ago because you're small enough to fit them again, thus saving you more money. I'm a guy. I wear t-shirts and shorts. Fashion changes are no excuse for wasting money on clothes.
I should mention that I did not use ESE unlike the previous 2 winners. I just cut out junk and ate unprocessed foods which included lean protein at every meal. I ate 6-8 times per day, depending on how early I got up. I had a cheat meal once a week which kept me sane.
For the last couple of weeks I didn't have a cheat meal and I cut out all grain and starchy vegies, dairy and had heaps of egg whites for natural protein. I didn't use fancy supplements - just a protein powder shake for after my workouts and if I was on the run and in a hurry.
I encourage everyone to apply the Turbulence Training methodology in their lives and become a happier person like me! I hope that I can inspire more people to improve their fitness and their overall well-being, by using
Turbulence Training. Thanks Craig!"
