I was 240 pounds when I discovered Craig’s Turbulence Training free sample workout, report about the Dark Side of Cardio, and Joel Marion’s Cheat Your Way Thin. I realized that I needed to change my way of thinking about weight loss. I combined TT with Joel’s plan and put it into action. The physical training wasn’t that big of a change since I had been lifting weights and running for several years- I just wasn’t losing weight. I knew I needed to change my program every 4-6 weeks, but had a hard time finding new workouts so I would do the same workout for 6 months or so. TT makes it simple to find the next program by having lot of choices, and by providing a chart so that you know when to change.
I lost 10 pounds in the first month! I discovered the Transformation Contest and decided to enter.
I made a commitment to not miss any workouts, to eat better, and only cheat on cheat days. One of the food choices I made was to try to eat as many whole foods as possible. It took some getting used to, but I’ve made it a rule to always try to pick foods that have as few ingredients as possible.
For the contest I did the Intermediate TT, The Original TT, and the TT 2K3 workouts and followed Joel’s eating plan (which is awesome- one day a week to eat anything I wanted!) On non workout days I would take my daughter & dog on half hour walks, or play softball. The last week of the contest was Thanksgiving. Since we were going out of town, I used the intermediate level of the Hotel Room workouts on the 2 workout days I didn’t have my weights so I wouldn’t miss any workouts.
In 12 weeks, I lost a total of 18.8 pounds, which averages out to 1.57 pounds a week! I reduced my body fat percentage by 6.7% and dropped 3 inches off of my waist, 2 ½ inches from my hips and 2 inches from my chest. Now I’m 210 lbs, feel great, look better and have developed some life changing positive habits.
