As I look back on the twelve weeks of this challenge, I cannot stop myself from going back to March 2nd, 2011. My life changed that day.
I weighed 272 pounds and would be winded going to the basement. I started with a complete change in my diet and quickly began to lose weight and by Summer 2011, I had lost 60 pounds. While I had lost a lot of weight, I had not really gotten in shape yet. I would go to the gym run on the treadmill and use the machines but I did not know what I was doing and I did not get the results I desired. So I began searching for workout program that would lead me to success.
During my research, I found Craig Ballantyne and read everything I could about metabolic resistance training. Shortly after that, along with Joel Marion, Craig introduced the 24/7 fat loss system. The workouts were outstanding and the change in my body during that first month was incredible. The concept of metabolic resistance training just made sense to me and before the holidays, I had lost almost 90 pounds and loving it! Unfortunately, with the holidays came some extra days off and some extra pounds. As spring rolled around and my weight creeping up, and I knew I needed to do something quickly.
The Turbulence Training Transformation Contest came at a great time! It was the perfect motivation to get back on track. I set my goal at 20 pounds lost, 15 pull-ups and started doing the work outs again. I quickly became motivated to get leaner and stronger. Within a week, my cardiovascular endurance improved, and I quickly started bumping up my weights. It was good to be back! My body began to change so much my daughter looked at me one day and said, “Are those abs? You have a two pack!” It is only a two pack but it was the first time in her 11 years she has ever seen one on me. This challenge inspired me to workout everyday, sometimes twice a day. I would do hill sprints in the morning and a MRT workout in the evening. The stronger I got the more I wanted it!
What happened to me is so much more than a body change; it is a complete change of body, mind and attitude. Although I fell just short of my goal of losing 20 pounds during this challenge, the 19 pounds takes me to over 100 pounds lost from my starting point. I exceeded my goal on pull-ups reaching 17!
During this contest, I used the 24/7 fat loss diet and workouts. I also used the Turbulence Training “Interval Training for Fat loss” and the “TT Metabolic Resistance Training” I also found the TT you-tube resources to be very helpful. Lastly, and maybe most important, I found that following Craig on Facebook and reading his daily TT blog instrumental to help me keep on track and give me fresh ideas and workouts.
