Collette Ventures Outside of Her Comfort Zone to Lose 10 Pounds of Fat


I’ve never been afraid of exercise.  I’ve always been very active, regardless of my weight, which has fluctuated over the years (I was very overweight as a child). I played a lot of sports growing up, but it wasn’t until I moved to Regina that I discovered weight training and I’ve been doing that for close to 20 years, along with various other sports.

As I fell unwillingly into my 40s, it became more and more difficult to get leaner. I was exercising every day, but saw few results. Then my friend (a personal trainer) told me about Turbulence Training.  I bought my first workout, and I was hooked. I loved that you didn’t need all those weight machines to get a fantastic workout. I loved getting a great workout without spending 2 hours at the gym every day. And I loved getting stronger. I went from not being able to do a single pull-up to being able to do 10 in a row. I’ve also modified TT’s “light activity” days to include spin classes and squash.

In May, my friend suggested I enter the Transformation contest. I knew just doing the workouts wouldn’t be enough. I was going to have to change my diet—and say bye bye to chocolate and cheese.

I started with the Fat Loss Switch, then did Booty for Wife 2.0 and spent my last 4 weeks with the Metabolic Madness Workout. And I changed my diet…drastically.  I ate often--good carbs, plus lots of veggies and protein.  

Twelve weeks later, I’m 10 lbs lighter and there is 23 cm less of me. Although quite a few people at the gym told me how lean I was looking, and my clothes fit much more loosely, I couldn’t really “see” how much leaner I had become until I saw my before and after pictures.

Today, I’m in the best shape of my life.  But that doesn’t mean I can’t be in the best shape of my life next year, and the year after that.  This contest allowed me to challenge myself out my comfort zone and I’m very proud of what I’ve accomplished. I just wish I had done this years ago.

Before and after measurements:

Starting Stats:
-  chest:  90.5 cm
-  navel:  82 cm
-  gluteal hip:  102 cm
-  right arm:  31 cm
-  left arm:  58 cm

Ending Stats:
-  chest:  89.5 cm
-  navel:  77 cm
-  gluteal hip:  99 cm
-  right arm:  28 cm
-  right thigh:  54 cm

Change:
-  chest:  1 cm
-  navel:  5 cm
-  gluteal hip:  3 cm
-  right arm:  3 cm x 2 arms = 6 cm
-  right thigh:  4 cm x 2 legs = 8 cm
