I am a 49 year old wife, mother and grandmother. I have struggled with weight for the last twenty years. In my thirties I weighed, at my heaviest, a whopping 196 pounds on my 5’2” frame. I was very depressed and willing to try anything to lose the weight.
I even tried prescription diet pills and did great until one week when I didn’t lose the required 2 pounds to get my prescription refill. So I started walking, increased my water intake, kept a food journal and lost weight, slowly. I managed to lose about 40 pounds over the next 10 years and kept most of it off.
I got a divorce shortly before I turned 40. I made a goal to re-enlist in the Army National Guard. I had 6 years prior service so age wasn’t a problem, but my weight was. I went back to the basic exercises I did in Army boot camp when I was in my teens – running, pushups and sit-ups. I did it!!! I met the weight requirement and was sworn in the month I turned 40. I still had some weight to lose, but was headed in the right direction.
In 2006, I met the love of my life, I started cooking for him. Within 5 months, I had gained 10 pounds. We got married and are living happily ever after. However, in the 8 years we’ve been together, I got comfortable and put on another 10 pounds, for a total of 20. I have been able to take off 5 pounds here or there, only to put it right back on.
In 2012 I had to have arthroscopic hip surgery on my left hip to repair a torn labrum. Since that surgery, I’ve had chronic pain in my right hip / low back. In 2013 I spent many hours in a chiropractor’s office and at the end of the year, she told me I needed to go back to see the hip surgeon. This did not make me very happy.
In December, I heard about Turbulence Training from Jenelle Ford, the 18th for women over forty. I had met her in person and knew her before and after photos were the real deal. I WANTED her body!!! My first thought was if she could do that, so could I. I asked her to tell me how she did it and she was gracious enough to share. I turned 49 in January. Having been obese in my thirties; overweight in my forties, I decided I wanted to ROCK my fifties and get the rest of the excess fat I was carrying off.
I entered this contest with one main goal – to finish it. Turbulence Training 2.0 is tough, but not too tough. I followed the week by week schedule starting with the Intro Workouts and progressed through the Beginner and on to the Intermediate Workouts. I had some muscle soreness, but nothing major like with other exercise programs I have tried. The changes in my figure have been rapid, which has been very motivating. On top of the amazing results, my chronic hip / low back pain is subsiding and I know it is due to the strengthening of my core and glutes from the TT workouts.
Along with doing TT 2.0, I have made some changes to my diet. I have been doing Fast 5 – fasting 19 hours a day and eating only during a 5 hour window. My window is 3 PM to 8 PM. I have been able to be disciplined with this eating style and it is working great for me.
I have used the app My Fitness Pal to track my food intake, exercise and progress. TT Contest Winner I have also been taking BioTrust Nation’s Leptiburn and IC-5 supplements as directed.Even if I don’t win this contest, I feel like a winner. I have stuck with the 12 week challenge – I didn’t quit. I have lost weight, lost inches and am becoming more physically fit. I plan to keep using the TT workouts as part of my new lifestyle to continue to transform my body and fitness level. I feel healthier than I have in over twenty years. It is a great feeling.
My hope is that my transformation shows my beautiful daughter that if I can do it, she can too.
Sincerely,
Robin
