Troy Drops 31 Pounds and Gets to Super Low Body Fat With the Turbulence Training Lifestyle

Fitness has been a big part of my life for the past 12 years and to be honest I have been very consistent with it. Like most people the first few years were the best because that’s when I saw the biggest gains.

Just in the first few years I added 30 pounds of muscle to a fairly small frame and I was feeling great about myself. Then over the next 8-9 years the gains, if any, were relatively small. I continued to stick with it doing the same routine over and over. That routine consisted of 30 minutes of cardio and 45-60 minutes of working out with weights. I worked one body part per day, five days a week.

After several years of working out like this I noticed that my body was not changing much and I was starting to add more fat to cover up any muscle that I had.

At this point I knew that something had to change. I was up to almost 235 pounds, was eating all the wrong foods, and drinking too much beer. Finally I came up with a plan and I knew it would work. I went out, purchased a treadmill and decided that drinking alcohol would no longer be a part of my life.

That day was March 17, 2009. Right away I started to eat better and began doing 2 hours of slow cardio every day. Three months later I had lost 45 pounds and thought I was in great shape. I decided that I was happy with that and went back to my old ways of working out at the gym.

Over the next six months I put 10 pounds back on and started looking like I was out of shape and flabby again. Simply put, I hit a wall and I had to do something about it.

I was not willing to give up and in January 2010 I began to search for a unique method that would not take up as much time and could provide positive results. That’s when I found Turbulence Training and the timing was perfect since they were just starting another contest.

I decided to join and dedicate myself for at least 12 weeks. This was a big
step for me because I’ve entered contests before and never completed them. I told everyone what I was doing so I would be held accountable and follow through to the end. Of course I was skeptical because I’ve always thought that going to the gym every day was the answer.

On January 15th I started my journey at 197 pounds and 16% body fat. My first priority was getting my diet in order which I knew would be a major factor in success. I knew how to eat the correct way but I could never stick with it long enough to see any progress.

Since my girlfriend was participating in the TT Challenge with me we decided to get all of the processed foods and pre-packaged meals out of the house. We started all over with lean proteins like chicken and fish as well as fresh fruits and vegetables.

It was hard at first but after the first two weeks it became a way of life and got much easier to continue eating this way. One thing that really stuck with me from the beginning was when Craig said “You can’t out train a bad diet” and that is completely true.

My main goal was getting rid of fat so I started following the TT For Fat Loss workouts doing a lot of the 12 minute fat loss workouts. I used these methods for the entire 12 weeks along with the interval training which I had never done before.

Since I already had a treadmill it just made sense for me. I did the 45 seconds at 90% and then 90 seconds at 30%. This was something that I did 5 days a week and it really started to help my overall conditioning which I really needed.

I have always been kind of a meathead so another goal was to maintain muscle while burning fat. I decided that I would also implement the TT for buff dudes and TT for reformed meatheads. It was a great combination because while I could do body weight exercises at home I could also train with weights at my gym.

It worked for me because I belong to a gym where the traffic is low and I can do routines that you could not do at a busy gym. To my surprise I was very sore for the first few weeks as a result of doing exercises that I had never done before. This is when I knew that Turbulence Training would work and now I was more dedicated than ever.

My favorite part of the new workout routine was that I only needed a fraction of the time to complete my workouts.

After the first month of using Turbulence Training I was feeling challenged and it was working because at that point I had lost 12 pounds which was mostly body fat.

I continued to stick with what I was doing because the results were amazing and did not want to change something that was working so well. In the last two months of the challenge I lost another 19 pounds and retained a lot of my muscle. For the first time in 20 years my body fat was under 10% and I could see my abs again.

To sum it all up, I blew away my original goals and could not be happier with the results. I am now 166 pounds and have a body fat reading of 8.2%.

The bottom line is that Turbulence Training works! In my case making a huge change like this was the best thing I have ever done. I am now a believer and my journey is just beginning. I have finally found a training method that works for me and it can work for anyone.
