Being in good shape physically was always rather easy. I had an active job and participated in sports. A few major life events changed that. One was having very active children. More time was spent traveling to events which usually meant eating on the run. This became the norm instead of the exception. The other major change was employment. I switched to a 3rd shift job which was much less active, plus changed my sleeping schedule. Since then I have gained almost 50 pounds.

I had been taking prescription meds for my acid reflux on a daily basis. I had my throat scoped because it was problematic and I had issues swallowing. My brother and father, 49 and 62 respectively, died of heart disease. My mother survived a heart attack. All of these factors, along with the fear of not being there for my family, gave me the push I needed.

My wife introduced me to Brent Neevel at Sheboygan Fit Body Boot Camp where I learned what Turbulence Training was all about. After discussing some goals and nutrition, I decided to join. It started with utilizing better eating habits. This started with cutting back and eventually eliminating fast food and soda. This was not easy, but the urges eventually subsided. The next task was a workout program. TT was the answer.

Walking in my first day at S.F.B.B.C. was exciting but also very nerve racking. After one workout, I realized how far I had fallen. Exercises that at one time were simple, now had become grueling. I decided to enter the TT Challenge right away. I had nothing to lose and everything to gain. This was also a great way to keep me accountable. The 30 minute TT workouts are intense, but also a lot of fun.

The timing of the challenge made it exactly that, a challenge. Our schedule consisted of five graduation parties, three group camping trips, and three out of town softball tournaments with my daughters. All of these events typically involve a lot of food and drink. I found myself making better choices and managed to stay on task. I'm amazed at how far I've come in 12 weeks. Instead of dreading the workouts, I am now looking forward to them. An impossible 30 second wall sit has turned into a 7 1/2 minute sit. I am also able to do pull-ups unassisted which was also not possible.

I have lost over 27 pounds, over 12 inches, and almost 5% body fat. Best of all, I am no longer needing my prescription meds.

I can't say enough about Brent, Nick, and Alyssa. They are always motivating me to do more. Also thanks to my Boot Camp family for the encouragement and daily push. I'm headed in the right direction, and I know I am doing what I can to be there for my family. - Mike Holtz
