My Journey

When I began this journey I was feeling tired, unmotivated, and felt I had been doing everything to get back into shape. I did not have a gym routine and I knew I needed to make changes in my eating habits. I wanted to be able to run around with my nieces and nephews and feel great doing it! I knew I wanted a change!

Being a teacher, I enjoy my summers on Prince Edward Island. I knew I needed some sort of routine if I was planning to be on holidays for two months. I contacted Stretch Fitness and asked about classes; gym times. I spoke with Corey Arsenault and he said come on in and join us for a workout! I went in nervous and not really sure what to expect as I had not any exercised in ages. When I was finished I decided to join for the month of August. Within a week I began to feel better. One of my weakness was planks and any type of weight lifting. To hold a plank for 20 seconds was unbearable. I collapsed and thought I'm never doing that again. During August I heard about Turbulence Training and its contest. I decided it would be an amazing goal to set as I was leaving Stretch Fitness to return to Halifax to get back to work. My biggest fear was now I was on my own. I would now be working out in my condo gym downstairs. I would have to be accountable, just me!

I now had to make a commitment to go to the gym on my own. One of my biggest motivators was the email reminder I got to write in my progress journal. As well for the first time I was doing something different. I was not on a treadmill for an hour. Each workout offered something different. For the first time I can hold a plank without collapsing and lift weights and even enjoy it! I run on Sundays a 9k is no longer a chore it's something that I love to do. I have become more aware of what I'm eating and realize how great I feel when I eat right! Today, I feel energized, motivated and enjoy going to the gym. I now love running around with my nieces and nephews. I am so glad I made this change!
