Back in 1991, I lost 55 pounds on Weight Watchers in a matter of eight months. I was 21 years old.
It's taken 22 years and two children for me to gain 35 of it back. I was feeling a little depressed and certainly not good about myself. My clothes were getting uncomfortable and I hated how I looked in the mirror when getting ready for social engagements. My husband's company believes in physical fitness and offers an after work exercise program.
He had been going for about a year and really liked it. He had lost about 15 pounds so when my work schedule changed I decided to give it a try. I felt awkward, tired, and sore at first and a little hesitant and embarrassed about working out with all men, especially those my husband works with. After eight weeks of working out twice per week I had lost a couple of pounds but wasn't really focusing on eating better.
I was getting a little frustrated and felt I was getting nowhere. Then our workout trainer Lesa Gutenkunst suggested this Turbulence Training 12 week "transformation" contest. I figured it was the kick in the pants I needed to be successful at putting exercise and eating better together. I started eating lean protein with more fruits and vegetables and increased my water intake.
I have found the weight loss to be slower than when I was younger but with my family and Lesa's encouragement I have stuck with it and really enjoy the workouts. I added jogging on non-workout days and am proud to say I can run two miles without stopping.
I feel great knowing that I am taking better care of my body physically and mentally. My friends and family have started to notice my "transformation" and it feels great. I know I am setting an example for my daughters on working towards a goal and not giving up.
Thank you so much!!!
