This contest was the perfect incentive to start turning my life around. I used to be a personal trainer. I went through a period of depression, stopped training, and stopped exercising. I ate whatever I wanted, usually junk food and fast food. Naturally, I gained weight. Three years later, I was still gaining.
The best part about this experience was awakening the self-discipline and determination in me that was missing for a long time. I was determined just to do my best for three months, following a very low carb diet and doing the Turbulence Training Workouts.
The prize money was a great motivator at first “Do you want that donut or the money?” The money won. Then, I became motivated by the results I was achieving and the power I felt over food.
I started feeling a desire to challenge myself physically again. When I noticed I was “going through the motions,” increased my weights and pushed myself more than I had in years. And any time I wavered, I was able to tell myself I could do it. I was glad to have Craig Ballantyne’s support, via Twitter, when I hit a plateau.
I proved to myself that I am not powerless over food, I can say “no” to sweets. And I proved that I have the self-discipline to stay on the diet and I can achieve the goals I set for myself.
That’s a wonderful feeling. I hoped to lose 20 lbs, but I was happy to lose 27 lbs. I’m thinner everywhere, and I’m amazed at how different I look!
Turbulence Training was perfect for me.
I did my interval training on the same day as the TT programs. Then I did activity on alternate days-starting with walking and moving to jogging. Debb
